NEUROBIOLOGY, ECOLOGY & EVOLUTION
I work from the understanding that human beings are ecological creatures. We evolved in relationship with land, kin, rhythm, weather, food, danger, rest, and one another, and our nervous systems carry that story.
This is where science and lived tradition meet for me. Evolution, neurobiology, and ecology help explain why ritual, belonging, seasonal rhythm, and home-centered care can feel so grounding in the body and spirit.
Based in Texas, serving clients online across the U.S. and worldwide.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Human beings did not evolve in isolation. Our brains, bodies, and behaviors were shaped over time through constant relationship with the natural world and with other people. That means stress, safety, attachment, attention, and regulation are all deeply ecological.
When we remember this, healing starts to look different. It is no longer just about fixing symptoms. It becomes about restoring relationship: with the body, with place, with rhythm, with community, and with the patterns that help us feel safe enough to belong.

HOW I USE NEUROBIOLOGY, ECOLOGY & EVOLUTION
-
I use evolutionary biology, neurobiology, and ecology as a way of understanding the human experience more fully. This lens helps me hold the nervous system with more compassion, notice the role of environment in well-being, and honor the ways people adapt in order to survive.
-
In practice, this means I may look at:
-
How stress shows up in the body.
-
How rhythm and repetition build safety.
-
How the nervous system responds to threat and care.
-
How land, home, and daily routines can support regulation.
-
How ancestral and ecological belonging shape healing.
-
This lens does not replace ritual. It helps explain why ritual matters.
WHY THIS MATTERS IN RITUAL THERAPY
Ritual Therapy is not only spiritual; it is also ecological and embodied. When we work together, I want to understand not just what you are carrying, but the world that shaped how you carry it.
That means I may draw on:
-
Nervous system awareness.
-
Evolutionary patterns of belonging and survival.
-
Ecological thinking about interdependence.
-
Grounding practices shaped by home, land, and lived tradition.
This is especially helpful for people who want spiritual care that also respects the body and the science of human life.

WHAT THIS CAN SUPPORT
-
This page may be especially meaningful if you:
-
Feel chronically overwhelmed, disconnected, or out of rhythm.
-
Want spiritual care that also honors science.
-
Are curious about how humans evolved in relationship with the land.
-
Want to understand the nervous system in a more embodied way.
-
Long for practices that help you feel more rooted, regulated, and at home in yourself.
-
If your healing path includes both reverence and reason, this lens may be a good fit.
HOW IT CONNECTS
This page supports the larger Sanctuary for Spirit ecosystem:
-
Ancestral Healing — because lineage is lived in the body.
-
Ritual Therapy — because ritual helps us return to regulation and meaning.
-
Eco-Spirituality & Animism — because humans are part of the living world.
-
Spiritual Homesteading — because home, rhythm, and stewardship matter.
-
Ethnobotany & Research — because plant knowledge is both cultural and ecological.
These pages are not separate silos. They are threads in one woven cloth.

A PRACTICAL NOTE
I do not use science to reduce spirit. I use it to deepen understanding. The body is not separate from the sacred. The nervous system is not separate from the land. And healing is often most sustainable when it honors both what we feel and how we are made.
FAQ
Is this page scientific or spiritual?
Both. I work from an embodied, spiritually grounded understanding of human life that also respects science.
Why include neurobiology on a spiritual site?
Because the nervous system shapes how we experience belonging, safety, and healing, and those things matter in spiritual care.
Does this replace therapy or medical care?
No. This is educational and spiritual support, not diagnosis or treatment.
How does this relate to ancestral healing?
Ancestral healing includes the body, the nervous system, the land, and the patterns we inherit and live within.

A PRACTICAL NOTE
I do not use science to reduce spirit. I use it to deepen understanding. The body is not separate from the sacred. The nervous system is not separate from the land. And healing is often most sustainable when it honors both what we feel and how we are made.
If you feel called to a healing path that honors both the sacred and the scientific, this is part of the work I love most. I believe we are not separate from the ecosystems that shaped us. We are part of them, and our healing can begin there.
